View Full Version : Server Copy

So they're making a copy of Phoenix Throne to White Tower. I assume we're too large a mass to coordinate a mass move even if we wanted to (which I don't think we do unless the queue times are still ridiculous a few days after release), but maybe we should sticky that decision in the forums to be clear.
I'm not sure how this is going to work. What if only 10-20% actually start playing on White Tower? Now you have a bunch of ghost guilds and all the most popular names taken. Who's going to want to start NEW on one of those servers? I guess they know what they're doing, but...seems odd. I guess we have some place to go when the server is down. :)

We are on Phoenix Throne. We've got no reason to move.

We are home, maybe it will encourage the smaller guilds to move.......or some of the damn Order folk.../grumbles bastards

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a wave of immigrant ironbreakers or bright wizards heading out... :p

Hopefully this gets rid some of the population. Phoenix Throne is virtually unplayable for me. It lags HORRIBLY in combat (but in nothing else) and I don't have this problem on any of the other RP servers, all of which have less population than Phoenix Throne.

I only get a little lag once in awhile.
There was once in an scenario everything stopped for a second than just sped back up to speed.
Could be a lot worse..../cough wow launch
to be honost we may need to wait a month for ques to finally settle down but once a agin to ensure a well populated server thats fine by me

We actually had nordenwatch completely crash on us last night and was inaccessable for a half hour after. We ended up doing ekrund for the next few hours.

If you do decide to move please PM me ... I want to try and keep the Order Pecival/Guin people all on the same server. Been really good battles between us already and I am sure they will become even more epic.

I think this was a bad decision on Mythic's part. I haven't seen a queue on PT with the exception of a 35 person queue one time on day #1.
Open RvR is very quiet as it is. We need as many people as we can get to have a healthy population at Tier 4.
Just my opinion, but I see no reason they should have fragmented this server.
Worst part is, because there characters weren't transferred, only mirrored on the new server, when new players go to create a new character on PT, it warns them that it's overpopulated, and suggests the pick a different server.
Yet really, it's not that busy. I roamed all through Tier 1, and other than EvsC, the RvR lakes are dead. In Tier 2, I only saw a group or two total, and in Tier2 zones other than EvsC, I saw maybe 5 people all night.
I recognize the game is new and all, but now wasn't the time to mirror PT, imo.

Agreed, I can't see any one but the most casual player moving to a cloned server, mainly because they didn't know what happend in the first place.

Queue's were over 200 with 1 hour wait times at peak. You havn't noticed due to being in already ;)

The wait time said 18 hours for me at one point, but I doubt it really would have taken that long. It seems to be the worst around 9 or 10pm eastern.
I made an Order toon on Tor Elyr for times like this, and I'm quite content with it. The population there has been a little too low (like no help in the PQ's and instant death), but I'm sure it has picked up already.

Last night at 10p Eastern I was 170th in the queue. Timer said 18+ minutes but it took about 6-7. I figured it was the computer gods telling me I needed to actually DO my laundry, versus just think it would get done on it's own. :)
I get booted to server select quite frequently and I spent over an hour last night just sitting in the queue. I still wouldn't want to move servers, though.

Longist I've been in was 18 people...took like 2 mins. I have heared from people on vent of longer times....I'm thinking it's just the Raven god helpen me get in.

<Yark!> I took care of the dishes and some other quick chores during that same 'gift of time.'

Give the server some time, that new game smell takes about 2-4 weeks before we'll see the queue drop down to the point where the subscription levels will normalize.
Also, I suspect that the server population cap isn't set to the true max but I don't have any strong evidence that this is true. So in a few days, they might turn up the cap and the queues might become that much smaller if not faded all together.
