Discuss apothecary, brag about what you've made and generally BS about apothecary here.

I've been struggling through Apothecary and think I have a decent hang of it so far. If anyone has any questions I can try to help, or share information too 'cause I'm sure I have a lot to learn :D
So far from what I've noticed is it is a little difficult to skill up around the 30-50 skill range, as there seems to be a shortage of skill level 25'ish main ingredients.

Yup. Its easy to get to the low 40's, but getting to 50 is a bit tough.
Here is the secret. Stop screwing around. Money just isn't that hard to come by like it was in Beta. Go to the craft vendor. Buy Level 1 ingredients and push the button a bunch of times. It will take all of half an hour and some fraction (perhaps small) of a gold piece. Its NOT worth your time looking for the L25 skill ingredients to get the last few points.
I found that I didn't have much trouble getting from 50 to 100. I had built up a big stock of L50 items (and several people donated more to me).

Anyone have a link as to what's craftable and at what ranks? I did manage to make myself a couple of interesting 'fire' damage potions recently from seeds I cultivated. Fairly interesting, if you ask me.

Yea that is what I am doing, buying the ingredients off the vendor. Although I just realized yesterday I could use those level 1 ingredients on my higher level "main" ingredients and still skill up. That is what I was struggling with at first, kept trying to find ingredients in the skill 25 range :(
So, you can use level 1 ingredients from the vendor on skill level 50+ "main" ingredients too??

You can't use any ingredient over your current skill level. The skill level of the main ingredient is the ONLY consideration for you chance to get a skill increase on an attempt.
So the name of the game in skilling up is to get main ingredients. Regarding the container and the water, all you care about is getting enough to be stable. The higher the level of the main ingredient, the more stabilizers you need. Your container can improved stability with a higher skill container. More water and higher skill water also increases stability.
In practice, you can go to 100 skill on used vials and 3 cloudy waters.

Thanks, that clears things up a lot for me. Hopefully this helps other people get passed the struggles I had early on.

Also, scavenging from dryad types gives various types of main ingredient bark. Combine these with 2 waters and 1 Callous Gobswort to create various damage shield potions which cause damage to anyone attacking you for a set period of time. Note that the ticks and barks are known to be instable. Sometimes you can use 2 Clouded Water, but in most cases you have to use 1 Clouded and 1 Fizzling or 2 Fizzling to make the potion stable.

Ok, wrong forum, no ones posted much in the talisman forum yet, but would this be the fragment for talisman making ? Im at 43 skill right now, I think made 8 talismans last night and only went up 1 point.
I was trying to use up level 25 components, but I think almost all the fragments I had were level 1s though, so im guessing thats why I only got one point.

That sounds right, Vorath. You can get up to 50 if you use enough level 1 main ingredients... it just takes like 20/skill point when you get into the 40's. On the other hand, I would expect a 25 skill main ingredient to give you a skill up about half or a third of the time if you are in the mid-40's.
I would expect the fragment to be the main ingredient for talisman making.

I just read the forums and discovered I can use waters for the three ingredients to skill up!
Chrysanthe

Yes, you can use three waters. In fact, sometimes it's almost necessary in order to get a stable potion.

im a little over 150 cultivating now, but my apoth is lagging around 120. ive got plenty of 100/125/150 main ingredients, but as a cultivator, im not having luck getting higher level stabilizers (except for rare byproducts from growing) and 0 higher level bottles.
at 120 apoth, the lvl 50 merchant bottle and 3x lvl 1 waters generally fail to allow a success.
anyone have insight if im better of focusing on stabilizers or bottles to progress further?
as in lvl 50 bottle and higher stablizers or lvl 100 bottles and lvl 1 stablez?

Anyone have suggestion on to get Apothecary from 50 to 60. If so you can contact me here or in game.

Theavo, that should be easy. For most people, the hump is 40-50. After that, there are lots of 50 skill scavenging drops.

I'm also in the 50-60 area...looking for minimum 50 Apoc materials is tough.

Try post 125.....I can't find any water that works....the stuff in IC dosn't even work with 3 in it. Haven to hope I get some from growing. =(

I guess you folks are not scavengers then. There's tons of water and main ingredients. I'm also going slow past 125... but only because I'm level 20 and not yet hit mobs that drop higher skill stuff.
I'll start putting 50 skill stuff in the vault.

Gisli,
Where is this guild vault? If you say the Viper Pit, I thought that was a guild officer only type thing. We had a great guild vault in Bloodaxe from DAoC that was well organized.
What sort of thing do we need in there?
Gisli

There are both personal and guild vaults in a chamber south of the Apex. It appears on your map as a guild shield when you get close.
There is mainly crafting components of various types in it now. And a few pieces of gear. I think there has been a fairly brisk exchange of materials.

Gisli already gave the location, but to correct the misconception: the Viper's Pit is accessible by any member of a guild with a high enough Guild Rank. There is a room within the Pit that is only accessible by GMs and Officers.

For those who aren't scavengers, look for distilled water, mineral water, and (I think it's called) purifying (purified?) water on the Auction House. Those are the higher level waters I've found so far (I'm level 17, scavenging is around 106).
Chrysanthe

Oh and when using the gathered only waters, try mixing them up with the Cloudy Water you can buy off the merchant. Sometimes you can get away with only using (example) one or two distilled waters plus cloudy water instead of wasting three distilled waters. Just keep an eye on the stability meter. You'll save hard to get mats that way.

I know the problem I've hit is that those waters arn't working for me anymore, 148 Alc. I had to try and get 125 water and pray...and pray that there is any on the AH.
I am stuck at 119 Apoth and need better water

Good place for scavenging are pqs like the chapter 2 (or maybe it's 3) greenskin where you have to kill 100 dwarves. I usually just run in there and kill/scavenge as my squiger but it was a lot easier as my marauder since I could AE them as they ran down and get kill credit as well.

I'm level 150-ish apothecary and when I try to use the green vials purchasable in the Viper's Pit (level 90 ones) I cannot add anything to the apothecary window. I drag the main ingredient over but it simply returns to my bag with no error message. If I use a regular level 50 vial from the tradeskill guy, the same ingredient works fine. Are these just bugged or am I doin' it wrong? :P
