alt tab lag

ok I have a very good system, 6 gigs ddr 2, intel quad core, 9800 gt nvidia video card 640 gig sata HD, vista 64 bit (ugh..!). Any way I run this game flawless its just when i alt tab in or out i get a black screen, then it flashes, and then the game pops on after a second or 2, or my desktop appears after a second or to, its whatever i alt tab to. It doesn't just do this for WAR it does it for all games, WOW, COD4 ect... I was thinking maybe it was my monitor and the hdmi cable i have running? i have a new hp 24 inch monitor hp w2408h. I have the latest video card drivers as well, its NOT computer lag because when i alt tab into the game and its black for a few seconds i can hear my character jumping around and i can move and use moves, I JUST CANT SEE IT for a whole sec or 2. I was thinking if i get a better hdmi cord? or maybe switch to dvi? or even vga????(god plz no!) maybe that would fix the problem.... Just tell me what you guys think.. THANKS!:lol:

Are you using the latest motherboard chipset, sound and video drivers for your hardware? In your Nvidia control panel have you modified any advanced settings, or made sure all of them are at the default Nvidia setting? It also could be normal for Vista 64-bit and your video card? I am not sure about that though, since I am using XP Pro.

What I would suggest trying first is a DVI cable instead of HDMI. See if that improves the problems you're having.

Check your drivers, the latest version isn't always the best. I'm not sure if the 64-bit Nvidia drivers coincide with the 32-bit versions, but for video cards the latest is not always the best. I would check around on various graphic chipset forums and see what works best for other people.

Also like Rusby mentioned, check and make sure you have your motherboard drivers are updated. Double check and see whats running in your services and as startup programs, sometimes you can good performance boosts by removing bloatware.

I don't think your problem is hardware, I think its a Warhammer bug, that's been around since way back. Alt-tab has always been problematic. I don't know exactly what has or hasn't been fixed over the Beta phases. But I recommend that you try the following two things, either or both of which might fix your problem.

1) Don't use alt-tab. Use the "Start" key.

2) Go into your user controls. Set the game to Windowed Mode with no frame. You won't see a difference from Full Screen mode.

O wow! thanks for the suggestion! i turned to window mode, my current res 1900 x 1200 and it alt tab instantly! i was thinking that this may make my graphics not as clean as they could be? or do u know if its actually the same clarity?? THANKS!!!

I believe you have the identical resolution. This was the recommended configuration from Mythic during Beta.

Alt+Enter set's WAR to windowed mode, which seems to help with this problem. However, I think they have fixed the dreaded black screen while alt-tabbing bug as of this writing.
