Hi all,
As Hel Maor had disbanded, I was left standing in ORVR all by myself. Luckily, the Ravens found this homeless little git and took me in.
Thanks :)
I played EQ a few months after it hit the shelves, then moved on to DAoC on release day, then moved to Wow on release day, then WHO on release day. I am an all out PvP, RvR player, not much into PvE anymore.
During my time in DAoC I often took over leading for Gisli when he had to log. Often, I also attended a very good gank group. Gisli often called on this group to clear enemy gank groups from keeps/towers etc.
Ravens of War rock !!!
DAoC - Chantz Mid/Perc Skald Rank 8
Wow - Worn Full Season 3 Shaman
WHO - Chantz Shaman RR48
The writing is sadly on the wall for this game. It will not be the great game we all thought it was going to be.
Prehaps the next game?

I think everyone's panning for the "good ole days" of DAoC. tbh I don't see any game on any server ever hitting that grand slam home run that was DAoC Percival ever again. I don't think it was because of mechanics either. I think it was a combination of the right people playing together at the right time on a gaming platform (MMO) that was mostly clear from the general population of gamers so only a few special (non-retarded) type of people played it.

To paraphrase Riv on the Way of the Chosen blog (http://wayofthechosen.wordpress.com/) : No, the game isn't perfect, but there's still a lot to like about it! And one thing to like is the fact that it brings together great folks like those in Ravens of War...

I honestly believe WAR is far from done and going strong.
Eventually, as in DAoC the asshats will fade away and we will be left with a great community and a great game. I do hope the next big MMO is soon, I for one intend on stay here in WAR and being the one to shut off the lights.
War has a lot going for it. It still needs more polish but it is still fun. One must remember to just play the game and have fun. If an aspect is frustrating I just don't bother with it.
We need more order to fight though.... :D
It doesn't help, that I play a class that is extremely frustrating to play, and due for a major revision next patch (at least that is what Dev's telling Marauders). The AoE mechanic isn't right when coupled with CC. T4 end game is missing something. Do I have fun still, yea... Am I frustrated my guildy's have left over their frustrations, yea... Do I still log in every night and for the most part have fun, yea.
However, one odd thing I have noticed. When things aren't going my way, in game (not just me dying), but can't get the right group, don't feel like I'm making a differance, I just log. In all my years of MMO's going back to the original Diablo, I have never experienced the, "I just log" feeling. Not even in WoW which I grew to abhor.

So many old DAoC players... Brings back memories (I was a Hib on Bors, with a slight jump to Alb on another server, don't remember the name)
I was there on day 1 in DAoC and thought that it was a great game, with a great crowd (only had EQ1 to compare it to at the time, so...)
I played on and off and stayed away from DAoC for many years as all my guild eventually left and playing MMOs without people you know is not the same.
Still to this day, I still trust Mythic to make something great out of WAR. It's got a solid foundation, even if it has its shortcomings. I think it beat all my previous MMO record of consecutive months played.
Hang in there, DAoC wasn't perfect from day one, there were MANY important changes that made it great (and made me come back to it even after WoW)
