If you plan to play Open Beta on Sunday, then at this point hopefully you have patched Aion up to 5.1.0.3 and patched gameguard. All this should happen automatically if you have installed the 1.5 patch, and keep running the launcher a few times. After all that, you should finally be able to launch the game to the splash screen where it asks for your account/password. Of course, if you actually type something in to those fields, you will get "Can't connect to the Authentication Server" and the game will close down.

Don't forget that if you installed that nifty little DLL that disabled Gameguard like many of us did, thinking it would fix the "lag" problem for closed beta, you need to delete/rename it and re-run the patcher. Mine was named "winmm.dll".

Looks like you need to download a mini patch to 1.5 to 1.5.3 as well.

Also hoping they working on a better system at launch then the "your server is full of this race" message as explained on the beta launch notes.

Essentially they are stating if one race has too many players, they will stop ALL new players of that race from joining that server. That system is pretty stringent if it applies to retail launch and might make preselection vital to actually get on the server you want.

Anyway good time to try to find that class you want to play most for retail, don't forget pre-selection is in about 12 days from open beta, with retail three days behind that.

NCSoft says that characters were wiped from CB, and will be wiped again after OB.

Just curious I patched from the aion website with torrient. Do you know what happens when it ask for your password and name? I am thinking you create one?

You need to go to the NCSoft account site, and create an account for yourself (assuming that you never played an NCSoft game before). Then you enter your OB key code to enable access to OB for your account. Then after 12:00 today, you can log in.

I'm not sure how you would get an OB key code at this point. They were being given away through various websites such as File Planet.

He he, first error message I got was along the lines of " This account does not have access to Aion blah blah, you owe us money blah blah please remit amount owed blah blah"
That one threw me off, tried again and got the server not available. Will try again later.
