I'm only just starting to engage with Warhammer (beyond recognizing the obvious, that Warhammer mean no more DAOC). But its still six months to Beta, give or take. I guess its time to start setting up some infrastructure, but I've never been into paying a lot of attention to a game before its real. WoW was the first beta I've ever been in.
But anyway... now that we're starting to get some vague idea about the "teams", what are folks interested in? I've got no idea how guilds will work -- whether their "white vs. black" or whether each of the 6 armies is separate so far as guilds go.[/b]
Well what we know, is 6 armies, 2 sides, 3 "front lines". So the pairing ends up Orc/Goblin v Dwarf, Elf v Dark Elf, Chaos v Empire. You don't have to help the other armies on your side, you can just stick to your front line.
Last I read is which armies/races can be in a guild hasn't been determined yet. I would guess that it will end up pretty open as long as you are on the same side. Yes that's not very Warhammer, but I think you do somethings for a better community and forcefully seperating guilds based on race while technically on the same side seems like it won't work well. That said, if they do it have a restriction on what races/armies can be guilded together that could be sort of circumvented by making a guild for each set and setting up some sort of ingame channel or try to coordinate on a message board.
Now, I'm looking at playing Dark Elf or Chaos, with really no intrest to play the other side. Although I'm worried about the Dark Elves drawing the mental midget crowd.
