You get free level 30 wings that are actually pretty good, both in style and speed.

It is possible to upgrade from Normal to CE via the NCSoft store if you think the 10 dollars is worth it.

The in-game Black Cloud Wings add 40 seconds to flight time and are equippable at level 30.

Just so I am not confused, Black Cloud Wings are the ones that come with the CE, or they are different and you get them in game somehow?

I believe Black Cloud Wings are the CE order. Someone double check me to make sure. =)

I'm assuming there will be better wings you can get I'm just betting the CE people will get a head start over others as they won't have to find wings as soon as they hit 30, they will already have a set.

And as far as CE vs Standard you also get all of the following with CE:


Attribute Boosting Hat
Experience boosting Talisman
Exclusive special effects ring (Water)
Wings
Earring
Unique Color dye
Disco Emote
Samba Emote
Special Title ("Pioneer of Aion")

Whereas a preorder of standard only gets you:


Attribute Boosting Hat
Experience boosting Talisman
Exclusive special effects ring (Water)

And preordering either gets you:


37 days of free play when the full game releases

There are some worst free wings at 40 (30 seconds I think) and some very pricey better wings at 50 (fifty seconds)

It's a pretty big perk, because the wings you can buy in game that increase flight time are extremely expensive.

So getting some lvl 30 CE wings, which look unique and really good imo, that give +40 flight time (almost double) for free is very nice.

The wings purchasable at level 30 are +30 Flight Time while the CE wings (also usable at 30) are +40 Flight Time. They also have a different model/texture which I happen to think is quite cool, but that's up to you. Wings go in the Wing slot and function like any other equipable item. These aren't permanent bonuses applied to your character but rather stats on a piece of gear.

30: +30 Flight Time (http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=187000002) - ~1 million Kinah
30: +40 Flight Time (CE) (http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=187050000) - 0 Kinah (but $10 if that's all you're getting the CE for)
40: +60 Flight Time (http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=187000003) - ~10 million Kinah
50: +30 Flight Time, +100 HP (http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=187000007) - free (quest reward)

Prices depend on your faction's influence ratio at the time of purchase.

The end result is that the CE wings save you ~1 million Kinah, give you an extra +10 Flight Time until you get the level 40 wings and have a unique texture.

NM, I found were you can purchase the upgrade seperately.

It seems like such a scam, but well... in a highly competitive pvp game, any assesst is worth it :P

I agree, Korasia. In one sense, I'm quite happy to pay $10 for the CE to get this stuff. Assuming that it is a one-time special thing that can only be done toward the beginning of the game, and so on. On the other hand, it concerns me. I am strongly against an "online store" approach where the company essentially replaces the kinah sellers. I would hate to see this be repeated in any way.

The only paid services they will ever offer are things like server transfers and such. NCsoft has said before they won't be doing a cash shop.

Did you have a digital pre-purchase direct from NCSoft? I was talking generally regarding pre-orders from other retailers, but I should have been more specific.

For store bought pre-orders (like most people have from Game stop) you cannot imput the code yet, it doesn't work.

I just ordered mine through ncsoft. It went through no problem and is activated. Under game accounts, click on your Aion account and it will show up under perks. I did buy the preorder through ncsoft also.

Nah it's ok. The pre-purchase comments above relate to people who have digiitally purchased the entire game already.

If you just have the box and the card yet it's mean you have a pre-order, and you will the get the retail game and retail code when it ships.

It's a CE perk that actually makes a difference, if only for a little while. I don't see any reason to jump to "they're going to sell kinah" fears. As Ray said, they are quite specific that there will be no cash shop.

KAion did get a special "Limited Edition" box that was sold to go with the 1.5 release. It included their own set of special wings. I take it that they didn't have a CE at release, though.

I wish i pre-ordered the CE from a normal store. For another 10 bucks you get a ton of perks like a music cd (personally I think the game music kicks ass and chews bubble gum, and is all out of gum) and a 6 inch figurine of a daeva. Kick arse. rawr.

Too bad I ordered from the NCSoft website...

I extracted all the music from the game files. It's Ogg Vorbis and only 128 Kbps, but I'm not an audiophile and probably couldn't tell much difference.
