Does anyone remember the name of the Hib guild on Percival who used to kick everyone's @ss out on the frontier? I remember a bladedancer named Vega was in it, and anytime I saw him I knew I was seconds away from getting mezzed and luri bombed. It's been five years and I'm still rez sick.

Wonder if we'll see some of those guys again...

Wasn't he in Palodox? Not 100 percent sure about the older Perc guilds since I mostly played on Nimue

Slaight, do me a favor.

Give me a pronunciation of the guild name. I remember debating it with a roommate before.

I'd say you were useless, but you already were a warden for years ;)

if its Gaelic based it probably sounds NOTHING remotely like its spelled. I speak/understand 5 languages and thought hey, it would be cool to learn Gaelic...and bought some tapes. I listened to them once in the car and that was it...holy moly...Rasha still teases me mercilessly about when I'm going to learn Gaelic. My guess is it won't happen before no one makes cassette players anymore.

Learning a new alphabet to learn Russian was a lot easier.

I've looked into Gaelic pronunciation in the past, though never actually learned the language.

For Irish Gaelic,

Sahl-us Keeair-call

The "ah" is a short "o", like in "mock". The "ee" is very short, like some people put between the T and U in "tune". The R in Keeair is rolled.

Now, this is based on limited understanding and a little research, so it's possible I'm off. I think it's very close, though, if so.

I've got a Walkman you can borrow, Livi. Comes with a pair of lime green legwarmers too.

Doesnt gaelic have a really short alphabet from what i remember too? Something like 15 or 16 letters. Gaelic pronounciation is just nutty though.

Hrm, did we somehow go from hib gank guilds to gaelic language? What a thread derailment!

Dafaer,

Palodox rings a bell. I'm pretty sure that was the group who used to give me cold chills at night. I can rest a little easier now. Thanks.

paladox was the pbaoe group... when they bombed you, you got mezzed, mass pbaoe'd with blinding effects, everyone tried to run at once which caused lag which kept you in the kaboom field... it was ouchie

Ok ok to set things straight and not derail this thread into a Palodox thread...

Solus Cearcall (most members pronounced it as SOLE-us KEAR-call -- but you can just call us Solus) did run PBAE bomb groups. Solus wasn't as well-known for them as Palodox was, but we started running them before Palodox did. We mixed our group make-up around depending on what kind of RvR was going on at the time.

I joined Solus after the bomb group phase at the time TOA was released and we ran primarly tank groups with one caster at the most. Solus Cearcall sports yellow and black colors and cloak emblems. Not many other guilds had yellow as a color, and we tried to stick out a bit. :)

"Solus Cearcall" was pronounced "Run back to the Frontier".

I too only knew them as Solus...and then knew I'd be hitting the release button often. :)

On a side note, everyone called me JIZ-ar-ek when in fact, my pronunciation was Ji-ZAR-ek. And the short pronunciation is Jizar, not Jiz! ;)

I remember a lot of great fights with them.
