Stevens Point Brewery came out with Horizon Wheat - unfiltered wheat ale. Good stuff
I have to go to MN to get Fat Tire though!

And not but not least - Spotted Cow only in Wisconsin. Though I enjoy some Road Slush (their stout)

I've recently aquired a cool turtle gadget that allows me to make awesome "black and tans".

I made my own for some time. Got prett good at it, using all grain mash and kegging. Nothing compared to my own, really. Maybe it was the freshness.
BTW I have become a Lager man. I love a good porter or stout, but for anything lighter than a red I now like lager. I'm particularly fond of Marzens, which we mostly only get marketed as Octoberfest. American style lagers have ruined the reputation of a noble lineage. Kind of like Paris Hilton

My favorite is from Gordon Biersch. They have the added bonus of actually calling it a Marzen. They are available in some grocery stores, too.

Trust me... while Yuengling is a fine beer, you are better off being on the west coast (beer-wise, that is). :(

That is very true. I do drink alot of Mirror Pond, Fat Tire, and Drop Top. But sometimes a guy just wants a good cold Pilsner too!

Aoann, if you hang out with someone who drinks Pilsner, then you don't have to worry about competition.

A black and blue is something they serve at Old Chicago (its a chain) in Chicago. It is half guiness and half blue moon (a sweeter wheat beer.)
Considering it is on their menu I am not the only person in the world who likes it!

Serious lack of information, and the tastes you have in other strange things puts this on the questionable list of beers.
though the beer that Ska linked looks intresting.

I am usually a Smithwicks (thats Smiddicks btw) guy at home, but I am pretty easy when it comes to beer (no bud/coors/miller/wheat beer please).
I tend to drink whatever is local when travelling. I guzzeled Lowenbrau & Hacker Pschorr at Oktoberfest, Pilsners in Prague... Meroni in Italy (which is still more expensive than an entire bottle of wine). In Russia they all drank Heiniken and MGD :/ ....

What's wrong with wheats? Don't even put my mirco wheats in the same category as bud/coors/miller crap!

Well if you are going off Blue Moon, I can see how you'd say that but the wheat beers I usually drink are less sweet and more hearty. If you're ever in wisconsin, I'll buy you one ^_^

Wheats are some of the best beer in the world. Especially if you've had it in Bavaria! You can get some nice bottled German wheat beers pretty easily in this country. If anyone has never tried a "real" wheat beer who would like to, I'll go look something up.
Congrats on the first homebrew, Radaghast! Actually, most lighter beer like your pale ale probably only needs to do primary fermentation for about 2 weeks, and then sit in the bottle for a week to be passable (for testing purposes, of course!).

I haven't met a wheat beer I haven't hated.
A friend of mine took 1st prize in a Hudson Valley amatuer brewers contest with his wheat beer. I hated it. I had an award winning wheat at TAP NY. Hated it.
An yes I have had some in Bavaria and hated them too :P

Well, you are a man who knows what he doesn't like then. :) I just wouldn't want anyone to write off wheat beers solely on the basis of Blue Moon. Though, I happen to like Blue Moon for a supermarket beer.

Don't hate on the pilsner now!!! I don't consider Budweiser, Coors, or Miller a real pilsner. They're more like cold piss water imho.
