Any of you a hw pc nerd. I want to ask if its ok to drop some cash on my box, say some more ram a different vid card or if i am just wasting cash

I do believe you will have to be a bit more specific at what you have, what your budget is and what you're looking at getting.

RAM is dirt cheap. If you're running 32-bit Windows, it won't recognize more than 3GB of RAM, but you can get 2-3GB of RAM for less than $100 these days.

Video cards tend to be a bit more pricey. I don't think you need top of the line for WAR. I recommend buying one generation behind the latest and greatest. Most bang for the buck. My video card is a couple revisions back from latest, and a mobile chipset (laptop), and runs WAR flawlessly. I wouldn't waste your money on a $300-400 video card for WAR.
