News from Mark Jacob about Roleplay Servers

After a little discussion about this topic with some Mythic officials, I finally received word from the kingpin himself.

If anything, I believe I've gotten him persuaded to roll out a second list so we know the second server to hit.

Also, the way he's been talking, the second server could hit almost instantly after Phoenix Throne.

The answer is VERY simple. If Avelorn is listed as the second, then we had better join Phoenix Throne. If Skavenblight is the second, then we better join Skavenblight.

Reasons are simple. Mythic is using alphabetical server categorization.

It is apparent that servers listed above others will fill up much more quickly.

So, there we have it.

Yeah, the Open Beta server names will not carry over to Live.. as far as I can tell anyway. :P

I meant as far as Skavenblight and Avelorn goes, i don't think the servers will be taken from the SE release list.

Hmm, that's also a distinct possibility if they've reserved the names of those servers for SE only.

So, looks like we'll wait and see what new names they intend to bring forth.

Ah I see what you meant. We'll have to wait and see, but until we know we can refer to "it" as the "2nd RP server" ^_^

I agree... I take Mythic at their word that Avelorn and Scavenblight are going to be opened on SE (Tuesday). Any second/third/etc Core/RP servers opening up on Sunday will have other names.

Since I have to go to work now, I can't wait for another poll to be put up. So I'll just leave my thoughts here.

Personally I think we'd be just going with the ebb of the untethered people if we went to the second server.

If we stick with PT, we'll likely see a dramatic decrease as other RP servers open up because everyone is thinking of doing what we are thinking of doing. However most of the old glory guilds from DAoC have already picked a server and are sticking with it. If we go wishy washy right now we have a chance of what happened on Malganis.

We should really consider Osterberk-whatever server. Everyone and thier mother is going to be like guin "let's just stick with Phoenix cause that's what we said earlier today and it'll cost too much trouble." Even though O comes before P the damage has already been done.

Yeah, but I don't think we need to wait for server #3 with 2 open immediately. With just 1 open I was seriously concerned. But now knowing there's 2, and each will have a cap at 1/3 it's end of week cap, I'm feeling much better about this.

fight the guin alliance (which has its ups)

or

not and keep that window open so people can flip servers and alliances if they got friends on both sides

It might be just me, I hope not. But I'm not a fan of picking a server so some people can be on bolth sides. I'd rather get on a server I know there will be good fighting on. I find it's horse <beep> that some people are tryen to push us onto one server that might be <beep> so that they can go play Marry gose <beep> <beep> on bolth sides. I know the only reason I'll do a Order toon is to learn how to kill it better.

Whoa sparkie. First off, I am taking a long view of planning for myself and the people I rep. Intial resourses on a server is a huge thing for me, a blind reroll is not something I like doing. Rather have cash/guild/accounts I can use all in place before moving 6-12 people.

When I made the move from Nimue alb to Guin mid, you better believe I didn't "lvl" the normal way, (for that matter, I lvled ONE toon the normal way in daoc out of 20+ 50s I ended up with in 6 years) or have zero clue of who was in-charge, what boards had raids on them, or scheduals I needed to get shit done, fast, with little time wasted.

there is also somethign you need to understand, I can start screaming to Roll PT just so I can beat the living **** out of a certian guild rolling there, which then influnces what server (whish I have been asked to do by someone not on these boards, btw). I gave options to roll either, both of which are valid

here... this is the crap I took for leaving Nimue Alb after 3.5 years and due to clustering...(I had rerolled Guin before it got put into the triple RP cluster) its circled in red:

there is more to that converstion, but to put it simplely, I had multi guilds gunning for me for a few months, which either lessened or heighten the presure mids had.

Realm loyalty is one thing, being blind to the fact that people are going to play both sides on different servers is a whole other issue
