I know Del made this very same poll, but it was made before most of us got in game experience.

Have you changed your minds after playing your selected class?

still the same, but my "group" set-up was hammered out 4 weeks ago

still moving people in slots though as I get more messages from possible guildies

Radaghast, you spelled "Marauder" wrong. I'm going to hunt you down and kill you for that! <Working on my role playing skills here. :)>

I'm going to start on the DoK.... but I may switch to Zealot.... and perhaps shaman.

For certain I think I'll be playing a healer type.

Did your face turn all red and your arm turn into a giant knife?

Cause you gotta get into character!

I am going to go Zealot. I was having a hard time chosing and my uncle just told me a few hours ago he would give me a G15 keyboard if I would just pick one hehe :D

I'll mainly be playing a Squid herder and Marauder at the start and then probably picking one of them farther down the road to be my "main"

Gisli

Does a squid herder have to stay close to water, or are these terrestrial squids? :)

Look out for the land squid!

I'm either going Sorcerer or Zealot - I loved the Sorcerer until I gave the Zealot a shot. I've always liked going DPS, but I enjoy healing even more so far.

Picked shaman still, since goblins are ultra cool and someone has to heal my dummy friends.

I hope no one minds this being a public poll, it is really neat to see the names below each class.

I have not voted yet, currently torn between squiq herder and black orc.

I will vote when I decide :)

Seriously, if you think Squig herders are an iffy class, pity the poor squid herders.

Think "Aquaman."

I spent a lot of Open Beta playing Order, so now I don't really know which class will be my main.. lots of time to figure it out though :)

Zealot of course, support all da way!

Well i also suspect some of those who chose to start as a healer will still be drawn away by wanting to do dmg

Black orc for me. I'll probably have a marauder alt to play with friends who are lower level, but definitely black orc for my main.

I am still planning on going for the Witch Elf with a sorceress as an alt.

Just remember for those few playing tanks. A lot of PQs in the Dark Elf lands go unfinished without you.

Come to the Blighted Isles.

If, IF, I go Destruction I'm gonna roll Marauder, anyone else not able to log on , my authenticator just boots me after the patcher pops for 1 sec.

Squig Herder was pretty fun in beta. I barely ever killed anything 1 v 1 or even in groups but it was still fun to play. Hopefully damage goes up after level 14. :P

I been voting Squig Herder in these polls but It looks like we might have a tank issue, in which case I wouldn't mid playing a Black Orc. I will be a green skin though, that is a given. The thing about Black Orcs though is that their model reminds me of the WoW Tauren, that is their heads are below their shoulders...which is why I always played a feral druid on mine.

Xusia wants to play some sort of tank, and I'd imagine Spices and Sugars would be doing some sort of beat'em'up combo.

Play whatever you think would be the most fun! I had the same worries but decided to stick with a shammy for my main.

Bodie
09-15-2008, 12:14 PM
I think I'm going to stick with Shaman. I was tempted to go Black Orc after seeing the disparity between tanks and healers in this poll, but I don't think these numbers will reflect the overall server population. I think a lot of us play support classes because we know we'll have people that we play with regularly to support. Joe Sixpack that doesn't have any friends in game is going to roll a tank or DPS that doesn't require other people around for maximum effectiveness. In fact, that's what I saw in open beta. Typically only 1-2 healers in a group of 8, not 4-5 as you would expect looking at this poll.

I'll still roll a Black Orc alt. :)

I'm so conflicted, i want to play a Zealot because i want a strong support class, but i also like playing non-popular underdog type classes, and Zealot seems mighty popular. I hope Bodie is right and our community has far more healers than the average population will. I hate being a dime a dozen.

be a shaman del, it will be like old times.

(Hint: I think Shamans are going to be THE premier healing class in the end game)

Bleh now i am seriously considering a shaman, though they are too very popular, they seem to me to have equal healing/support potential to the Zealot, i see no reason to regard the Zealot as the more "pure" or stronger healer via a comparative review of their abilities.

I have always wanted to play a short race too. In DAoC Lurikeens were my favorite race (and i ended up as a huge troll), and in WoW gnomes were my favorite (and i ended up as a huge cow) - see a pattern?

Syluna

Do tell my dear, why do you think so?

I'll go with "gut feeling".

The zealots have a very standard, very regimented healing. They are your go to standard healer.

However as the shaman does damage, his potential goes up significantly and it seems as if going down the path of Mork, shamans could pump out some phenomenally huge heals at just the right moments to make or break an encounter

Besides...gobbos are cute! lol

Yeah my main is definately the Magus still. i think my secondary will be DoK or Shaman, but i havent decided which.

Yep, you probably have a Thyroid problem since you keep growing so much :).

Yeah I'd like to know also.

Unlike Zealots, whose mastery trees have a dps/heal mix, shamans have the Mork tree which only helps their healing ability. They are also fantastic debuffers. I would probably play one if there were at least some goblins that kind of looked cute like the female bloos did in DAoC. :)

I don't like to melee, so my choice was kind of made for me.

Wow, a lot of people sure like Zealot.

I was going to go Zealot but last min. I changed my mind and went Magus.

I love playing the underdog. Also my daughters voted for the "skateboard one".

Once I get Alexi to rank 40 I will make a Zealot, Shaman, DoK, Squig Hearder, Maybe Marauder if I can bring myself to play a male, or umm sorceress......BAH I picked a Magus, at least I picked one

The problem with this game is ALL the classes are fun.

I don't know whether to damn Mythic or praise them. :)

Not getting into PW or any betas sucked a lot. Been reading everything I can get my hands on but still having a hard time deciding. My favorite class for RvR was my Eldritch, loved to AoE bomb the ram LOL but mostly, the diseasing and snare nuking the assist train, being able to put out good damage while also being a critical part of the group with my utility spells/abilities.

Enjoyed the light tanks like zerker and blademaster, as well but I am honest enough with myself to know that while I believe myself to have been a better than average Eldie, I was a mediocre at best Blademaster in RvR. /sigh

Was thinking a Sorceror for a long time, but now am tempted too by the Marauder, Chosen or Black Orc melee classes after reading about the collision detection and cool abilities that look like they might make a melee more than just siege runners and assist train chasers.

What do you guys think? Anything remotely close to an Eldie here?

Decisions, Decisions.

I decided on starting with the black orc, but will roll my squiq and play it as well :)

Chosen is definitely going to be my main (Rank 10/Renown 10 with him now! :D ) but I've already made one of each other Chaos class. Haven't bothered logging them in or anything yet, just got the look I wanted and my names. Eventually, I should at least work on my Cultivator since I've been stockpiling seeds and need Gold Essence for talisman making with Domine and I tend to be frugal when it comes to paying for something I could get for "free"...

I am REALLY having a hard time picking my main.

As soon as I got up this morning I got a couple names set up:

Feaniad - Chosen
Thrakatul - Zealot

I really like the Marauder too, so I'll probably dig up one of my old names for that.

Gosh all I've noticed IN-GAME is DoKs, DoKs, DoKs, everywhere! The Dark Elf starting area was 60% DoK 30% Sorc, 10% WE. So I took my baby sorc to Greenskin starting area (i like it better!) and what do I run into, 3 more DoKs as the only other Dark Elves!

I have not been to Norsca yet. Trying to avoid it as it is usually crowded.

I love seeing this many DoKs (it's a great class) but I hope they realize they are healers and not Witch Elves. :)
