hi everyone. i built a new computer and all for war and to take advantage of the amount of ram i have, i decided to *shudder* use crappy vista.

my problem is that the mouse buttons don't work ingame. that is, that which i have bound are not available to me.

i tried setting the compatibility settings to "run as admin" a la ventrilo (which also does not work ingame without this setting) to no avail.

anyone run into this problem and have a fix?

Wish i could help.I run Vista as well.I am not in headstart till tuesday,but in beta,i really had no problems with buttons working.I do have issues with vent though,never thouhgt to run as admin on it.
In daoc on rvr nights,i could hear just fine,just gisli and teh others said when i spoke it sounded as if i was underwater.Never could get that fiqured out.

Its not a problem with Vista.

People (on the Beta forums) have complained about keybinding to mouse buttons not working properly. I would say give it a couple of weeks and it'll be fixed.

Anyone using Vista, I strongly encourage you to turn off the stupid prompts for privilege.

If you go into classic control panel, then User Accounts, then "Turn User Account Control on or off" and turn it off. You will need to reboot, but programs will work fine without having to give them the "run as administrator" flag.

Vista gets a lot of flak, some of it well deserved, some not. I run it at my office and at home, and I don't experience any issues with it. I would also highly recommend turning off the Windows Search service and disabling it. This service controls indexing, so that searches return results very quickly, but it takes up huge amounts of background resources and generally causes more harm than good. If you're running this service in conjunction with Outlook 2007, and have a large .pst, watch out. :)

I was just about to post this as soon as I read the problem. I had this exact same issue a few weeks ago and Steingrimr's solution should do the trick.

I thought it was my mouse since it was ~3 years old so I went and bought a shiny new RAZER mouse. Alas I could have kept my old beaten one that worked just fine.

Vista (I use Ultimate 64) has performed fine for me otherwise, no complaints.

Yea ditto on disabling "Turn User Account Control on or off".

Mouse keybindings work fine, it's just that they don't show up properly in the keybindings UI. At least for me, when I bound a key to my mouse it would say the wrong mouse button, then if I bound another key it would replace my previous mouse binding even though it was a different mouse button. I could just save the bindings and they would work right, just don't show up right in the bindings UI /boggle.

I don't have problems with vent or anything in Vista64, but I have a pretty slimmed down list of services, turned off all but the things necessary for a gaming machine.

Very easy fix by just running the program that controls the two mouse buttons as the admidistrator. I had the exact same problems until I set both vent and my mouse and keyboard programs to run as admin.

This is what I had to do when I began running Vista. It totally fixed the problem. I do have to give props to Kailikor for giving me the suggestion, though :wub:
