View Full Version : Considering making an alliance

I do not have a CE preorder, just a regular one, so i am not online yet, but will be shortly. In the meantime i have been thinking about our needs for more alliances. I miss the sort of leading i used to do in DAoC; leading raids and a guild in WoW for the past few years has been fun but just not the same.

I know Gisli has one alliance set up already, but that is only 10 guilds. We will need at least two more to house all of our forces (the size of which makes me giddy beyond words!). So if you have yet to find a home for your guild let me know either by posing here or having a chat with me via PMs. Some of my guildies are already playing, and if my guild (named Fenrir) has not been made yet, it will be once the regular pre-order players can get on.

For those who may not remember me from DAoC or know me personally let me say a few short sentences about this alliance (which will or will not be made based on the response i get here). I very much intend to continue in the tradition of old school DAoC alliances, where cooperation, organization, and leadership are values that trump the need for individual gain. Despite being a distinct alliance we will regard the needs of the realm and particularily our larger community - our group of alliances - as essentially a single unified force, which will respond to things like CTAs together and organize RvR efforts together, not just among the guilds in our alliance.

The sort of people i want in this alliance are more or less the sort of people that were abundant on old school DAoC RP servers but who have also been, for the past couple of years, the sort of people that are very hard to find in WoW. That is, people who have great personality, realm pride, and social solidarity. People who value a good person and personality at least as much, if not more than, a good player. The sort of people who I have always been quickest to turn away in WoW (the sort of people i do NOT want) are the sort of young, immature types one finds all over Battle.net - abnoxious, "leet" speaking, racist, homophobic, sexist, attention seeking, solipsistic kids who are the antithesis to a good RvR community.

For most people on this board the above goes without saying, but a declaration of intention never hurts, i figure. If you do post or PM in response, and you have not yet posted in the cooperating guilds thread (which you should), let me know about your guild's history, size, and so on. See you all in WAR shortly!

Oh and we will need a name for this alliance. I never really did like naming alliances after the founding guild since that seemed to be a little too one-sided, so a name that is not the name of a guild within the alliance would be dandy. Something meaningful to us old DAoCers - i'm sure we can come up with something!

I know my guild has been active in trying to put together an alliance. I'd me more than happy to lead one myself. I've done it in DAoC so it's no sweat on this side. I've already got several guilds who may be willing to join me once I get my guild made. (Still waiting on enough guildies to log in.) I've got no problem making one up. Anyway just my two cents.

Logmere seems like the perfect name for an alliance from old Mid Perc, just saying.
