    Default Apothecary

Discuss apothecary, brag about what you've made and generally BS about apothecary here.

I've been struggling through Apothecary and think I have a decent hang of it so far. If anyone has any questions I can try to help, or share information too 'cause I'm sure I have a lot to learn

So far from what I've noticed is it is a little difficult to skill up around the 30-50 skill range, as there seems to be a shortage of skill level 25'ish main ingredients.

Yup. Its easy to get to the low 40's, but getting to 50 is a bit tough.

Here is the secret. Stop screwing around. Money just isn't that hard to come by like it was in Beta. Go to the craft vendor. Buy Level 1 ingredients and push the button a bunch of times. It will take all of half an hour and some fraction (perhaps small) of a gold piece. Its NOT worth your time looking for the L25 skill ingredients to get the last few points.

I found that I didn't have much trouble getting from 50 to 100. I had built up a big stock of L50 items (and several people donated more to me).

Anyone have a link as to what's craftable and at what ranks? I did manage to make myself a couple of interesting 'fire' damage potions recently from seeds I cultivated. Fairly interesting, if you ask me.

Yea that is what I am doing, buying the ingredients off the vendor. Although I just realized yesterday I could use those level 1 ingredients on my higher level "main" ingredients and still skill up. That is what I was struggling with at first, kept trying to find ingredients in the skill 25 range

So, you can use level 1 ingredients from the vendor on skill level 50+ "main" ingredients too??

You can't use any ingredient over your current skill level. The skill level of the main ingredient is the ONLY consideration for you chance to get a skill increase on an attempt.

So the name of the game in skilling up is to get main ingredients. Regarding the container and the water, all you care about is getting enough to be stable. The higher the level of the main ingredient, the more stabilizers you need. Your container can improved stability with a higher skill container. More water and higher skill water also increases stability.

In practice, you can go to 100 skill on used vials and 3 cloudy waters.

Thanks, that clears things up a lot for me. Hopefully this helps other people get passed the struggles I had early on.

    Used Container
    Shattered Bear Tooth
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Callous Gobswort
    Result - +10 str for 10 min.

    Used Container
(the feather looking main ingredient - servers down, can't go look for name)
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Dusty Fusk
    Result - +10 Ballistic for 5 min.

    Used Container
    (feather ingredient)
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Callous Gobsworth
    Result - +10 Ballistic for 10 min.

    Used Container
Spiny Water Flea - off daemon types (like Ungors) (scavenging)
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Callous Gobswort
Result - instantly restores 25 action pts.

    Used Container
Greenback Tick - daemon types (scavenging)
    1 Clouded Water
    1 Fizzling Water
    1 Callous Gobswort
Result - Draught of Balming, restores 500 health over time

    Used Container
Rocky Grave Dirt - ghost types (scavenging)
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Callous Gobswort
Result - +31 spirit resist for 10 min.

    Used Container
Dusty Defiled Earth - ghost types (scavenging)
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Callous Gobswort
Result - +63 (?-I think) to spirit resist for 10 min.

    Used Container
Engorged Ribbon Leech - humanoids (scavenging)
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Callous Gobswort
Result - instantly restores 500 health

    Used Container
Emaciated Ribbon Leech - humanoids (scavenging)
    2 Clouded Water
    1 Callous Gobswort
Result - instantly restores 332 health

Also, scavenging from dryad types gives various types of main ingredient bark. Combine these with 2 waters and 1 Callous Gobswort to create various damage shield potions which cause damage to anyone attacking you for a set period of time. Note that the ticks and barks are known to be instable. Sometimes you can use 2 Clouded Water, but in most cases you have to use 1 Clouded and 1 Fizzling or 2 Fizzling to make the potion stable.

Ok, wrong forum, no ones posted much in the talisman forum yet, but would this be the fragment for talisman making ? Im at 43 skill right now, I think made 8 talismans last night and only went up 1 point.

I was trying to use up level 25 components, but I think almost all the fragments I had were level 1s though, so im guessing thats why I only got one point.

That sounds right, Vorath. You can get up to 50 if you use enough level 1 main ingredients... it just takes like 20/skill point when you get into the 40's. On the other hand, I would expect a 25 skill main ingredient to give you a skill up about half or a third of the time if you are in the mid-40's.

I would expect the fragment to be the main ingredient for talisman making.
