Along those lines, does anyone know of a way that would enable me to use vent on the same comp as I'm running Warhammer? As it stands now, once Warhammer runs my push to talk key stops working and alt+tabbing takes about 5 minutes.

If you are on Vista, you need to run Ventrilo as the administrator.

Knaz -- Do you have a sound card? Do you have a USB headset?

I cannot run both game and vent on my USB headset. It slows everything to a crawl. I play game sound through the speakers (hooked to the motherboard's sound output jack), and do vent over the USB headset.

This is the fix to your exact problem.

Incidentally, not everyone has this problem. My vent works just fine without doing anything special. However, I clean installed and am already the administrator so... maybe thats it.

I am on the Admin for Vista. I still have the problem stated above. I'm not sure what else to do. I hate getting prompted on vista to approve everything. I'm on the admin login! Grr.

Many people turn the account control off in Vista.

Yes I am on Vista, not by choice... laptop came with it & I'm on TDY right now so I don't have my other comps set up near like normal.

I tried the suggestion to right click the icon & selected "run as administrator" and this solved it, thanks all! Strange how I don't have to do that with any other application, but hey whatever works right? Where's my Vista Chamomile Crash Time Tea?

right click on it and click run as administrator, even if u are administrator.. Vista is screwy, see if that works

Looks like you got it resolved Just wanted to add -- don't waste key clicks with push to talk!!! Use voice activation, if you play with the sensitivity some it really works very well and just picks up talking, not breathing. Just make sure your headset has a microphone mute button just in case you need to hit it when your wife comes to yell at you for something. . . or maybe that's just me

After raiding for 4 years using push to talk is second nature to me anymore!

Besides, I don't always want to be using the microphone when I'm speaking, I might be me muttering about some idiot I'm grouped with...
