    Default Hmmm Tera online

NC Soft publisher but someone else developing it.... kinda scary....game looks pretty nice to try but to dedicate to who knows.

Still the fact NC soft is involved really really turns me off......then I look at the game and want to try it at the least....

I just wish NC would go away...and Some other company came up in the Asia world (and did a better job).

Is NCSoft just publishing or are they doing more like accounts and servers?

The only connections between NCSoft and TERA are that Bluehole Studios was founded by former NCSoft developers (Lineage 2 mostly) and that it is rumored that they used stolen Lineage 3 code as the starting point for TERA. Hangame is the publisher.

To correct my earlier post, the code theft thing is more than just a simple rumor. The core developers were convicted last summer in the criminal trial and Bluehole was ordered to pay NCSoft 2 billion Won (~1.75 million USD) last month through the civil trial, though they plan to appeal.

So far, the only really concrete distinguishing feature that I know about is the target-less combat system. They say the community stuff is supposed to be really great, but I haven't actually seen any expansion on that. The graphics are pretty, though.

Edit: Target-less is the wrong term. You don't select a target like most MMOs, but you do have crosshairs like a third person shooter.

Yeah, back in Warhammer Beta, when we were all complaining about the horrible targetting implementation, I was thinking of making a post with the title "Harry Potter Doesn't Target." The idea of point-to-shoot instead of targetting seems worth exploring in an MMO. But maybe more appropriate for a Sci-Fi type than a Fantasy type.

Fallen Earth has that already...though fumbly game play..... i can see how it would work already. It will make ranged fighting more interesting..... and combat will be more interesting.

Global Agenda we have xhair system no tab targeting.... Though Sci Fi FPS MMO...we do have melee....and there will be lots of donut fighting....(doing circles).....

I think it could work....but it will make things hard if you are against AI that has AIMBOT on you.....

After watching some more videos, it seems that the crosshairs are only for ranged classes while the melee classes hit targets in their swing arc. It's interesting, but it remains to be seen how well it works.

I've been watching their site before I started playing Aion. The forums are filled with peeps saying what they want in Tera but I've never been able to find any concrete info as to how the PvP will work. If its just going to be open PvP where anyone can attack you at any time then I won't even bother with the game. Hopefully they come out with a PvE server or a way to completely control how much PvP you have to deal with.
Aion is bad enough with the rifting PvP so not interested in something that may be worse. Its gotten to the point where you cannot quest in Morheim (on an alt) or southern Bulusan for more than 15 minutes without being ganked. I came from EQ2 which is PvE and know after playing Aion that I'm a PvEer.
