Hopefully they come out with a PvE server or a way to completely control how much PvP you have to deal with.
Aion is bad enough with the rifting PvP so not interested in something that may be worse. Its gotten to the point where you cannot quest in Morheim (on an alt) or southern Bulusan for more than 15 minutes without being ganked. I came from EQ2 which is PvE and know after playing Aion that I'm a PvEer.
yes the PVP in Eq2 is more brutal though =p..... I remember getting ganked in the sewers and thieves way of freeport.... the PVE side of the game is solid...I am having fun again with eq2....and battlegrounds launched....so time to take my 50 zerker to 90 ... now to find a good guild to group with on him.

Tera I know nothing on so far ...just from what the site shows....and applying to beta requires reading Korean.....to even sign up....so that means I gota go find a friend....go to the site from his house and have him sign me up..... this sucks.....I can't read korean....and i wonder if I have to change my keyboard to sign in to...(ugh)....

The beta is only in Korea currently and apparently you have to have the Korean equivalent of a Social Security Number to sign up. Their Closed Beta Test 3 is running Feb 26 - Mar 7 with 20k people (large increase, there were 3k in CBT2), so we should get some more info out of that. So far there has only been a focus test of 300 on our side. There could be another one but time frame and sign up procedure have not been announced yet, if so, nor has any CBT or Open Beta info.

Most available information comes in the form of Youtube videos, but there's some on the official forums as well as terafans.com (the Curse-affiliated Tera site).

So En Masse Entertainment is the western publishing partner for TERA (source). This means that they'll perform functions similar to those NCSoft West does for Aion ("including marketing, localization, community relations, testing, customer support, and game security") for the western version of the game. They also happen to be based in Seattle and were formed by former NCSoft employees, most of which were involved with Aion. Note that Bluehole Studios themselves are largely former NCSoft developers as well.

This could be good if it turns out that they were people disenchanted with NCSoft (especially how they've handled western Aion) and are now trying to be a kind of anti-NCSoft, but bad if they just see it as a better financial opportunity for themselves while doing the same things.

The official FAQ was updated at some point recently with the following (amongst some others).

    Q. When will TERA be released in North America? Will TERA be launched globally?

TERA is scheduled for release in early 2011. The game will be available in multiple languages and localized to specific regions. Please continue to visit our site for further updates.

This is unfortunate from my perspective. I was hoping it would be released relatively soon so I'd have something to play until SWTOR comes out in Spring 2011. I don't think TERA is likely to win my play time over SWTOR, but it's not impossible.

I have some news I have been researching on about Diablo 3 bro's. CEO Mathew something said 2010 will have two blizzard games release.

Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and Warcraft revamp expansion (warcraft 2 pretty much) are on the table.

Key news: Starcraft 2 was pushed back to 2011 around that announcement to perfect it for the release for balancing..We know That game is a Huge E sport for Korea....just huge ....the whole country gets involved like a fricking Super Bowl. So we know this games push back makes sense.

This leaves 2 games left for release...they announced 2 games release for 2010..... EB Games shows Warcraft expansion and of recently Diablo 3 on pre order status.

So this leads me to believe Diablo 3 is out this year..... Beta players are expressing how well polished it is now.. (yes i am in those forums a lot)..... it is on patch 1.13b ...4 classes are out...and people are guessing on a 5th class speculation threads at battlenet diablo3 forum..... I wonder....eb games states 1-6 player....and a 5th is to be announced......I wonder if there will be 6 man groups then.....also..... they are putting a PVP element in the game....pvp games teleporting you in to random locations vs other players.....wonder how that works...hmmm...

I do read that battlenet will be p2p ..which i understand ..they have to support the game big and to do that they need to finance it.....we already know there will be screams of account jackings.....and time and money spent to restore accounts....

Anyway...figure I toss that in here .....I to am looking for something else to do till Star Wars..... wow expansion I know will not last long for me.......I need something new....

Terra Online: I've been watching lots of you tube vids...... I can't help but feel irritated by how the pvp looked.... the PVE side was even more...disturbing....it looked like a off shoot of Aion....and that already is a bad sign for me.

Jeeze.....and a panda like midget slamming people around...fluffy lil bunny mobs in clusters chasing you....omg...its like Hello Kitty meets Lineage 2.....wtf.

It's SC2: Wings of Liberty (Terran installment) and WoW: Cataclysm.

Not sure where you heard SC2 being pushed back to 2011. Public beta started almost three weeks ago and they're aiming for three months, so we're looking at Q2 with a month and a half of buffer if the beta has to go longer. The second installment (Zerg, Heart of the Swarm) is theoretically 2011, though.

I certainly hope Battle.net doesn't end up with a fee. A claim that they "kind of have to" do that is pretty ridiculous given the other similar free systems out there. That said, the exact quote from Wilson was
We are looking to monetize Battle.Net so that we get to keep making these games and updating features
"Monetize" just means making it generate revenue which could be done with ads, for instance, rather than usage fees.

I've only watched one or two videos from TERA's KCBT3 but I've watch quite a few from other times. Would you expand on what you were expecting? The direct combat experience is quite different but I expected the higher level view (looking at each character as just a blob that does a job) to remain similar.

    This is what you posted:
Blizzard have had there Q2 Conference Call where they delayed Starcraft into first quarter of 2010 and hints also Diablo 3 release date 2010, because they need to release one game each calender year, and only Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 is in long production phase. Here is hint about Diablo III release date 2010 by Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s CEO:
“I’d just like to reiterate that we haven’t announced any release dates on any future titles, and I’ll also reiterate that the move of StarCraft into next year does not impact the schedule,” he said after being asked whether or not we’ll see two Blizzard games next year twice by two separate analysts.
“So, it would be correct to conclude that you could expect two releases of Blizzard next year, but I would not make any conclusion on what those titles are going to be.”
Also we recommend you reading the Blizzard Q2 Transcript with lots of info and details about Blizzards future plans:
Note that this was their Q2 FY09 conference call that occurred in August (their Q2 is 1 July - 30 Sept) - delaying Starcraft to "next year" was therefore delaying it to 2010.

Another post talks about the Q3 FY09 conference call that happened in Nov and has this blurb:
One game Morhaime barely discussed was Diablo III. The latest hack ‘n slash sequel was not said to be part of Blizzard’s 2010 pipeline, while StarCraft II and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm are. Morhaime mentioned Diablo III as part of Blizzard’s “pipeline,” but that’s all he would say.

Admittedly much of the feedback I've seen about SC2 has been negative so far, so I imagine it will end up in beta a lot longer than planned. Still, it mostly seems to be about balance, so I don't think that will push it to 2011.

Well that is just depressing! That link was better than the blog I read...since he paraphrased ...and had links....

With what you posted here...just makes me feel sick =(..... So it seems D3 is out the window or blizzard is going to surprise everyone by releasing it last minute...i can only hope for that...doubtful...but it would be a great surprise.

I doubt it cause SC2 is a huge title for them to get out....and Warcraft expansion *huge cash cow* is already set in stone this year.... Diablo 3 though loved....is probably not pulling the weight the other two games do...

....now I am stuck in eq2 till next year...bah....and I was so looking forward to better info. The talk of a 5th class announcement in the D3 forums....makes me believe it also is looking further out on release...but those beta players keep giving me the impression (on battlenet forums) the games state is pretty solid already and beenin beta testing for a while already.

What do you think about D3? Has it been in beta for a while now? If so....you really think they would keep it in beta for another year if it has? Something fishy going on here ...Blizz is more tight lipped about D3 than the other 2....why is that.

I don't really know anything about D3's beta. Games can be in really closed alpha/beta (the kind where the NDA precludes even mentioning that one exists) for a long time before moving on to a "public" beta (closed or otherwise). Perhaps the people you are talking about are using "solid" in a different manner, but to me that would only require that the core of the game is there and that it is performing well, not that it is anywhere near feature- or content-complete according to Blizzard's vision.

They're more tight-lipped about D3 because its release is further away, would be my guess. They always keep the released info limited until they're close.
