Default Anyone have any feedback on Uthgard Freeshard DAOC?

    First, hello again all!

Has anyone poked around Uthgard, a classic DAOC freeshard? What was it like and is it worth the time checking into?

Also, what is everyone up to game wise? I have not really been playing much of anything ...

I played Champions Online and I still play it a few hours a month, but I miss the community side fun of the old farts from Percival =P.

    Hope all is well...

Never heard of this. What is it?

I've just been playing Titan Quest, sometimes with my kids.

    Hope you are doing well!

It's a free, reverse engineered DAoC server. I never tried it out, though.

Hello all. Hope all is well. I looked into it a bit some time ago, and I was thinking about giving it a shot. I didn't play Old Frontiers, so I'd like to just see what it was like. The very nature of the project gives me a little worry though. No real admins, cheating, server down time, and login limits make me wonder if it would be worth another DAOC grind. I was also thinking about giving the Mythic servers another look. I hear the super cluster is pretty active.

Just for a bit more background...
There are many freeshards which are basically privately run DAOC servers. Some have different options like: no TOA, only SI, etc. Uthgard is a bit more intriguing do to it being Old Frontiers.

Nel, Cron, and I have been messing around on this server lately and we have Rune up and going there with maybe 15-20 of us playing there now (we started about a month ago). Gutz got us all started by bringing this up to us a while back. We are all back in Midgard again and while we have a fair number of people playing, many are busy with RL so there isn't always a lot of people on in our guild anyway. Still, the game does seem to have some potential.

The server pops seem to be decent when we play at around 400-750 people and there is pretty good action in the battlegrounds and you always see lots of kill spam in Darkness Falls and Emain still. The Battleground level ranges are a little strange with them being 20-35, 36-42, 43-49 or something like that.

The grind doesn't seem as bad as before as they have high camp bonuses, although they don't last as long it seems. Just playing part time we got to level 33 in about a month.

They have the SI classes (Bonedancer, Savage), but not the SI zones. They do have Darkness Falls, but that is the only extra zone although they do have a fully implemented Raumarik and Malmohus (I think), with the Dragon and Legion (in DF). They also have the SI trade skills of Alchemy and Spellcrafting.

They also have two new zones that they created from scratch by the devs that seem to have some high level content and loot. I think you need to be in your 40s for the 1st and 50 for the 2nd, though.
