Spreading the word about this site, and other thoughs

As my drive to play WoW keeps going down, i find myself playing that less and less. Part of that time i have replaced with a much better activity, i think, which is spreading the word about this site. I have been asked to only spread the word to old Mid/Perc folks, as having a bunch of new names around, even if they are good folks we met in WoW (or elsewhere), it would not be condusive to the tight-knit community we seek at this stage.

So i have been tracking down old Mid/Perc folks, starting within my own WoW guild, which is mostly comprised of old DAoCers. Beyond that there are some others who have left WoW, and others still different guilds, which i intent to find. Some i have on my MSN or AIM contact lists. There are others who i remember but have no way of contacting, and there are still others whose name i cant even recall.

I think now is the time to start doing this. I am being clear to everythone that we are in the very early stages of this site, and that the game is still about a year away. Although BETA is pretty close, and people are very intersted in keeping up to date on the game development.

I also think we could use something like a mission statement sticky post for the site. Something along the lines of:

- creating a launching point for the old Mid/Perc community into Warhammer, where we can find and organise old Percivillans
- having a single site to keep up to date on all the latest game developments and BETA oppertunities
- making sure we all end up on the same realm/server come release

On another note, i think it is amazing how deeply nostalgic people still feel about old Mid/Perc. It has been several years now for some since they have played in that community. They have ventured in other games, met new friends, new guilds, and yet, are still very interested in the idea that we may once again recapture what we once had in old Mid/Perc. The other games we have played are all fantastic amazingly designed games, but they are not MMO games whith mehcanics condusive to making and nurturing a realm wide cooperative-community. People are willing, even eager, to leave those games at the prospect of what is very likely to be a less developed, less grand, less funded game in an earlier stage of development because it might have a better gaming community.

I think many people are hoping, waiting with baited breath to see if Warhammer delivers a game that is condusive to the kind of community we had in DAoC. I talk to a lot of old Percy folk and in nearly everyone has both a strong nostalgia for old DAoC, and a hope that Mythic will recreate it in Warhammer.

I think this a great plan. Any I think the following would be an excellent tag line or one liner to sum up what my goal here is anyhow:

One thing I've learned about these games... you don't know how they will turn out until you've played them for awhile! Who could have known what DAOC would be like until we actually experienced real RvR, including relic raids and all the rest? So its hard to predict exactly what guilds will need to do to serve their members in any new game. We went into WoW with a DAOC mindset, and it turned out to be something different. Hard to predict what Warhammer will really be like.

Do we even know basic things yet, like can the three factions that are nominally on the "same side" actually be in the same guild? Can they get back and forth to each other's areas?

Yeah, I thought I had seen about being in the same guild. But it could make a huge difference in operations if it is hard or even difficult to get back and forth. The big point is that its hard to do a lot of planning until we know more about the game.

I want us all be together from percival. Theres one thing I don&#039;t like about wow and thats the people and young kids. Also every guild I join always fall apart. Or I find myself alone in a guild. There also some guild that won&#039;t take me. I am so happy with Ravensflyte they are great people. If one guilds fall aprt I want the other guild invite them no matter what the situation. Anyway hugs all:)
