I just did my very first home brew ever this thursday!
Started with a pale ale. Too bad it will not be ready to drink till October!

Wheats are some of the best beer in the world. Especially if you've had it in Bavaria! You can get some nice bottled German wheat beers pretty easily in this country. If anyone has never tried a "real" wheat beer who would like to, I'll go look something up.
Congrats on the first homebrew, Radaghast! Actually, most lighter beer like your pale ale probably only needs to do primary fermentation for about 2 weeks, and then sit in the bottle for a week to be passable (for testing purposes, of course!).

I haven't met a wheat beer I haven't hated.
A friend of mine took 1st prize in a Hudson Valley amatuer brewers contest with his wheat beer. I hated it. I had an award winning wheat at TAP NY. Hated it.
An yes I have had some in Bavaria and hated them too :P

Well, you are a man who knows what he doesn't like then.I just wouldn't want anyone to write off wheat beers solely on the basis of Blue Moon. Though, I happen to like Blue Moon for a supermarket beer.

Don't hate on the pilsner now!!! I don't consider Budweiser, Coors, or Miller a real pilsner. They're more like cold piss water imho.

I like Pilsner Urquell and Budvar.Clearly you fell on your head some where
