    Default My Motorcycle Accident

So, this morning Thursday Sept 4th at 9:15am I was in a motorcycle accident. To make this short I tried saving my motorcycle and myself from crashing for about 30yards. I started in the middle lane and ended up in the far right lane. When I realized I couldn't prevent a crash I decided to drop my motorcycle instead of slamming into the right curb and more than likely flipping my bike and hurling myself over the bridge and about a 15foot drop into a ditch of jagged rocks. So, I dropped my bike when I did I lifted my legs and arms and slid behind the bike for about 20 yards before coming to a halt. I was wearing my gloves , jacket and helmet thank God. Anyhow I walked away with little to show for it except possible a bike that might be declared totaled. Here are some pics of the damage I sustained.

No I wasn't speeding or riding like a fool. In fact the car behind me and to my left was a cop who ended up helping me out after the accident. I'm fine so you all know and hope to be back on a bike asap.

This is the bike that will prolly be declared totaled. The entire side you see in the pic is completely shredded.

Truly, you got off very lucky. I'm a huge believer in wearing the proper gear. My spouse crashed his Suzuki 1500 last week and walked away with shredded jeans, and scabs similar to yours. His Lindby bars saved his bike from being tore up. We have the bars and a signal light to replace.

Glad to hear you walked away.

Yea, I walked away very lucky indeed. I only wish the video cameras at the intersection recorded it but alas they didn't. That would have made a great youtube moment . I'll find out later today or tomorrow if they declare my bike totaled if so I'll be getting a new bike . Either way I'm happy to have walked away as for today I'm a lot more sore than yesterday but still walking .

Even minor accidents can make you sore all over, both from the impact and from the way your muscles tighten up all over in anticipation. Plus, the body releases a flood of endorphins to keep the pain at bay. When those wear off, well....

Glad you walked away from this one. Get an airbag on the next bike!

Glad you're ok, we've had some crazy motorcycle things go on here in Denver this summer, we actually had one that got hit by lightning in a very light storm (I wonder what the chances of that truely would be since there was only a few lightning strikes that whole night).

Well, my accident occured due to an oil spill on the road. I didn't see it in time to adjust but even if I did considering there were cars to both sides of me don't think I could have done much.

oooof... One of the guys on my tennis team had a MAJOR accident this past summer... Broken ankles and a lot of messed up body parts. He has made an amazing recovery though... I still won't ride one of these cause of how easy it is to wipe... I WILL ride my road bike which probably provides less protection but goes slower... I donno lol

Dam glad you are alright though mate!
